For Kids & Families
The Columbus Arts Festival, presented by Time Warner Cable will celebrate its 50th year of bringing the best in fine art and fine craft to Columbus, June 3, 4 & 5, 2011. To celebrate this momentous occasion, we’re creating a BIG festival experience—diverse, inclusive and creative with an emphasis on engaging a broader spectrum of the community.
Here are some of the fun and exciting activities happening for the 50th anniversary that kids and families will enjoy:
Hands On Art Activities Area
Throwing clay pots, blowing glass, or creating a journal for a patient at a local hospital - you and your family can do all that and more at the Columbus Arts Festival. Hands-on art activities for adults and kids offer opportunities for all ages to try their hand in the creative process. The Hands On Art Activities Area will be located in the parking lot of the Columbus Museum of Art from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Children's Gallery
Located in the Hands On Art Activities Area in the Museum parking lot, on Saturday and Sunday, don't miss the Children's Gallery, where children 12 and under can purchase original artwork donated by Festival artists for $5 or less.
Children's Theatre
Alice in Wonderland comes to life with a performance by the Grass Patch Performers, local actors ages 4-12. Park your chair for this special treat from central Ohio's Dramatic Impact with Candace Mazur-Darman
Connect a Million Minds Day
Connect a Million Minds Day presented by Time Warner Cable on Saturday, June 4, will explore creativity and imagination through the lens of science. Activities will showcase the different aspects of art and science with the help of local arts organizations and artists who are committed to helping Festival patrons explore the science behind art and the art behind science. A wide range of art forms will be represented including visual arts, dance, music, theatre and more.
